STEM Opportunities at IMLB2022

Free for Students and Teachers, the Australian Battery Society and IMLB2022 are proud to support a unique educational event on-site at the International Meeting on Lithium Batteries at the International Convention Centre in Sydney on Wednesday 29 June 2022.

Are your students excited about science? Are they keen to understand, learn about and discuss energy, in particular batteries? This might be a great opportunity for them – attend a scientific conference, see posters, hear talks and meet a Nobel Laureate!

Wednesday 29th June 2022
9:45 - 10:00 am Registration at International Convention Centre Sydney
10:00 – 10:30 am Morning tea with conference delegates
10:30 – 11:45 am Guided walk through exhibition hall and poster displays
11:45 – 12:00 pm Attend a scientific talk at the conference, see how scientists present to their colleagues
12:00 – 12:20 pm Talk by Nobel Laureate (2019 Chemistry for the development of the lithium-ion battery) Prof Stan Whittingham
12:20 – 1:00 pm Photos with Prof Whittingham and a short practical – making and connecting lemon batteries
1:00 - 1:30 pm Lunch (please bring packed lunch to eat to at venue)
1:30 – 1:50 pm Talk on recycling batteries by Dr Cristina Pozo-Gonzalo (Deakin)
1:30 – 1:50 pm Talk on investigating batteries using neutrons Prof Vanessa Peterson (ANSTO)
1:50 – 2:30 pm Panel session: everything you want to know about batteries, energy of the future, life as a scientist
