New South Wales
The Warrumbungle National Park in NSW is celebrating after officially being certified as Australia’s first Dark Sky Park by the International Dark-Sky Association. It joins an elite list of only 36 other Dark Sky Parks around the world. "Australia has a long history of engagement in global space research. Victoria
The Great Ocean Road stretches along the coast of Victoria and is an ideal way to experience the beauty of Australia’s rugged coastline, spectacular beaches and relaxed coastal townships. Take the opportunity to watch the sun set over the Twelve Apostles from one of the many viewing points. These aptly named giant limestone monoliths follow the cliff face boundary of Victoria, towering 45 meters from the Southern Ocean.
It is not known exactly when the limestone stacks became known as the Twelve Apostles… or why. Local folklore suggests that because they seem to exude such power and awe, visitors can only stand in awe of nature and its creation and hence the name’s biblical origins.
Visit the Apple Isle
Tasmania, an island state off Australia’s south coast, is known for its vast, rugged wilderness areas, largely protected within parks and reserves. The island also offers a 19th century penal settlement, Georgian warehouses, boutiques and contemporary art galleries.
It just so happens the best time to see the Southern Lights in Tasmania is between June – August!
The dramatic Red Centre
